Located only 450 meters from the ocean, the colorful Tres Mundos Hostel in the beach destination of Playa del Carmen offers guests free Wi-Fi in public areas.

Is it quiet at night?

Generally we have a restaurant open with ambient level of music, which closes at midnight and aftewards is completely quiet.

People stole my food even when my bag was labeled and closed. The mattress is just gross, the facilities are not clean and the private room didnt have AC and the fan wasnt enough for the Mexican summer

The location of the hostel was very good. Close to the main street with shops and restaurants, however the hostel is located in a quiet street.

The biggest minus for me was the incredible noise and very loud music played in the hostel. Noise and music resound into the night. The kitchen and bathroom are a bit dirty.

Perfect place for young backpackers who want to save litlle money and are not complicated/picky.

I stayed in 10 beds dormitory for female. I got what I paid for. Very basic but clean. I like that bathroom was a part of the dormitory and I don´t need to pass any halls to reach it. The staff was really helpful and nice. The hostal is close to the sea, ADO bus station and all turistic shops and restaurants.

For me the kitchen was little bit nightmare. With so many guests there was not enogh cooking equipments - just 1 jar to boil the water, 1 pot and 2 frying pans. Everything in really bad shape. The kitchen was far from clean.

I actually paid for 2 weeks via this booking and another (12 nights), but I will leave one big review here. The hostel itself is lovely with a few very friendly staff members. Diego is very helpful and kind and Bella is lovely too. The private room is really beautiful, it was perfectly clean and there was even a private (small) patio which was unexpected! I can't fault the room (although be mindful of the fan- it looks like it may fall at any moment!). Wifi works well and the communal/chill area is welcoming throughout the day- a nice place to relax. The private room I would rate 8/9 out of 10. :) I didn't feel too safe due to the hostel/bar overlap. There is a very big emphasis here on attracting customers for both the cafe and bar; the cafe is fine, and there are often people working from their laptops in the chill space throughout the day. There's also reggae music and/or old skool rock classic playing throughout the day, which I personally liked. Really good energy & vibes in the daytime. The not so good: the music is excessive, all evening until 11pm, and every single night. There's no cut off! Plus lots of randomers coming and going via the bar aspect. The kitchen is really dirty, genuinely very bad. I cooked food once during my whole stay, on day 8/9, and it wasn't until my 6th day there that the kitchen got cleaned (by their standards). I actually had to wipe a significant amount of food and mold/dirt from around the sink just to rinse a spoon... Someone drank my entire carton of soya milk too. Honestly, that kitchen needs a REAL good scrub down- a day scrubbing everything, so then the signs will make sense. Because for a newbie like me it didn't make sense at all- I found it quite disgusting (and I've lived off-grid on farms, so I'm not exactly high maintenance!). I ended up leaving 5 days early as my room was downstairs right next to everything (bar/cafe/communal area).

A warning for the location of the budget private room- no-one could manage more than 2- 3 nights there! Impossible + I got seriously ill from no sleep and constant music blaring, 7 nights a week. A seriously good kitchen clean... then penalize guests accordingly from this time and space. + Perhaps 2- 3 nights a week where paying guests are given priority over potential bar customers? And considered! Like a yoga or movie night, time for hostel travelers to chill and unwind, or simply no 24- 7 "party vibes." ~Just some friendly advice to make it more harmonious and welcoming. :)

it was pretty close to the beach and I could cook

The bathroom was not so clean and near by the toilet was a filthy towel and I booked 2 nights and nobody took it from there. and the internet connection is pretty bad. and what I didn’t like it it was that we have to bring the bedsheets when we check out to the reception, which I think it’s totally stupid honestly

Good vibes

I stayed for one night and then moved into a private room. The dorm wasn't/isn't really for me, so I won't say too much about it. The private room is beautiful and I will share more details in my next review (staying 2 weeks!). I was welcome in a really friendly & warm way and there was reggae music playing, which I love. Generally a good vibed hostel.

I don't know who the original "culprit" is, but the girls could have cleaned up after themselves. Someone was obviously dirty/inconsiderate and then everything else just decided to be careless too (when I arrived the bathroom was real dirty). But, this isn't the staff's fault and people/humans should be more clean & respectful. :)
